Ross 1,084
Hi everyone, I know there was a discussion some time back about which bottles are commemorative and which are not but I want to have a refresh and perhaps start a database? Please see what I think it should be in that category but feel free to correct the list. Max 23,887
prohibition set ? 150th, 160th 161st birthday bottles ? Scenes ? Gold Medal series ? the list goes on and on and on the database is a great idea but how far do we take it ? In recent years there are MANY slight label variations for different countries
Ross 1,084
The Prohibition set is on the list but I guess as far as decanters go, we can stop at the Riverboat and then the next chapter stops at the Prohibition set? Yes, I agree with the Gold Medal bottles but Scenes, Birthdays, Holiday Select, Ducks & Masters are just special bottling I guess they can come under a different category? I also see the Sinatra & White Rabbit as a commemorative but the Forest and GJ Limited as special What do you think guys?
hodag2005 983
White Rabbit 120th Anniversary is commemorative, special edition is limited edition...right? Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
raregentleman 1,380
For me are all bottles or decanter wich can be register at the distillery commemorative bottles. So all with registration number on tag or bottle.

Max 23,887
I'm just bloody confused...... love this discussion - what does make a "commemorative bottle" ? I think it would be good to have a complete list of "special/commemorative" bottles including everything other than regular releases like BL. SB. GJ etc but listing all the slight differences between countries will make it too complex IMO
Ross 1,084
Max you nailed it! That's exactly what I want to achieve so we need members to participate as I'm sure there will be a lot of opinions but I know we can come to an agreement So what's Commemorative and what's Special release?? Use the above list to start and let's just keep to the different sizes rather than Countries

polish_jd_collector 8,169
Agree with the White Rabbit Special Edition Moreover, if Sinatra Select is Commemorative decanter, why Gold No 27 is not? lol
Max 23,887
but we could use the real meaning of commemorative and classify any of them that commemorates someone or something but then I think that would be pretty much everything other than standard releases like BL,GL, SB, GJ, TH, TF etc. White Label would be commemorative but Gold 27, wouldn't as it doesn't pay tribute to anything. Not meaning to throw a spanner in the works just adding a different view to the discussion
hodag2005 983
I would think the White Rabbit 120th is commemorative, but the Special Edition is a special release. The 120th was limited to a run or two, while the special edition was limited to how much they can sell.... blkold7 1,716
Not sure if the 1904, 1905, 1913, 1914, 1915, 1954 & 1981 Gold Medal Bottles were the ones listed as Milestone Bottles, but if so, The Distillery considered them Commemoratives in the Commemorative Booklet I own and it shows the year dates they were released. I also noticed Ross listed the Bicentennial as a 1996 release, but in the Commemorative Bottle Booklet I own it shows the release date as 1995. Roy

Roy well spotted Roy, I always thought it was a 1996 release as well ( the bicentennial year was 1996) but maybe it was released late 1995 ready for the bicentennial or maybe it is a misprint in the booklet both are possible

So then the Ducks, Holiday Select and Special edition GJ would be Commemorative?
