This thread will be a summary of the information provided by the members on the various double sized tins available. The thread is 'closed' to keep things tidy so if you have further information regarding any of the tins shown (year, contents etc) or you have a double sized tin not shown please share the information on a separate thread and I will collate the information here. The tins are numbered for reference only and doesn't relate to order of release.

Double Tin Number 12

This version holds (1) Fake Seal, Block Letter, 43%Vol bottle dated 1991 on the back label,it has a BAR CODE , This was the first time any tin had a bottle with a bar code in the USA.

The Letter inside is titled

" On putting trust in YOUR NOSE"

"You've got to go by your nose". That's what Jack Daniel's always said, back when he started our distillery in 1866
What he meant was that whiskey making is an art,not science. For a distiller, instinct and experince are more important than a chemical formula somewhere.
Back then< the only gauge our founder ever used was a distiller's thermometer to let him know how his mash was cooling. And every distiller since Mr.Jack - from Jess Motlow right up to me - has kept one handy too.
So, along with this bottle of our Tennessee Whiskey we hope you'll accept a distiller's thermometer of your own. It's just like the one I use every day in the stillhouse. You see, there is aren't any chemical formulas around here. And we're still putting trust in our noses.

Jimmy Bedford
Head Distiller

(This is a Typed Copy of The Letter inside)

Also included is an exact copy of a Distiller Thermometer, as used by all 6 Master Distillers. The Bottle & Distiller's thermometer rest in a red velvet liner embossed with the words " JACK DANIELS OLD No7 BRAND" This is the first time the red velvet liners were embossed.
