I finally have seen the latest release of the Gentleman Jack. Notice many changes. The following pics will show some things I see different. I did not include the Front Label for all know it had changed. The only thing that seams to be the same is the glass bottle. These pics are of the new GJ, none are GJ4

Here is what I see different:

1) The Top or Cap. On top of the top or cap, instead of the circled GJ, it has (2) Drops and the wording "Double Charcoal Mellowed - Ultimate Smoothness".

2) On the side of the top or cap, on the GJ4, it has the wording "Rare Tennessee Whiskey" wrote more than once. On the new top or cap, it is ribbed like the JD Monogram and no wording.

3) Below the top or cap, there is a collar or neck band. On the GJ4, it has the wording "TWICE MELLOWED". On the new GJ, it has the wording "DOUBLE MELLOWED" instead.

4) The lower Front Label that indicates the size of the bottle is different on the GJ4 compared to the new GJ

5) The Govt. Warning Label on the side of both GJ's are different.

6) The laser printed numbers on the back of the new GJ are layed-out different to each bottle

Now that I show and point out the differences, has it been decided yet what to call the new GJ? If not, could someone start a poll. I think GJ4 2nd Edition or GJ5 would be choices top make. I have heard some folks call it a Hybrid, but I am not sure I would even think about calling it that, since the glass bottle is the same, but JMO.

What do you think?

Roy

Good point Roy, I got my first "new" GJ bottle yesterday and I was also noticing the differences but I'm not so sure it is a new generation as like you said the bottle is the same, I'm sure they will change the signature soon also - will that also include a slight change to the bottle shape as well ?.  I do think the bottle shape needs to change for it to be a new generation IMO

Hybrid??   :D

I'll leave this to those that know, as a few know I do not drink/collect GJ so I will keep quiet now. I still like to read this thread though and learn things  :)

I am sure we can speak about a 5. Generation.
All is changed only the bottle not.
For example the White Label first and second have only small changes in the label.
Or the Singel Barrel. Think only the Barrelposition on the label has changed.

I think 5th gen would be easier

and it cant be a 4th gen hybrid until a newer one comes out

the 2nd gen was just 2nd gen because of the same bottle and new label, until 2nd gen label and a new bottle, making it a hybrid in stead of 2nd gen.

Hybrid is hard as already said as needs a new bottle style to exist based on previous history....all other gj hybrids were same bottle but label change....we ignore cap changes on most bottles and concentrate on label and bottle changes....if not a hybrid then 4th gen version 2 as i think to be a 5th gen needs bottle change

Of course I am curious if there are more then one top front label versions ???

This the label number on the 70cl bottle... 10028668    without FD...

The bottom front label is 10028706FD and the side label 10028707FD .....

Likely FD is a new printing company ??? , on more new labels the number ends with FD in stead of SL..
