I have someone who is willing to sell the older set that came with a wood box, egg shell glasses and a bottle of JD. Unfortunately the bottle is missing so its just the box and shot glasses. I was trying to figure out a little history on these sets and also how much people think the box would be worth. My plan was to buy a correct period bottle for it. Thanks in advance!!

I just replied on your other thread, these were never officially sold with the bottles, you’d buy the wooden box from the separately and add your own bottle, they made many different sizes and variations, I have this one myself and I believe a pint paper seal fits nicely

There is a thread on Presentation Boxes in the "Merchandise & Memorabilia" Forum.

Sorry, but I can't post a link.

I would value the box at $75, but just my opinion.

Got it thanks for the info. Does anyone know what years this particular box was sold? Also the guy is asking $225 for the box with egg shell glasses, the metal engraving plate is missing. Is that reasonable?

I wrote on the other thread I personally thought about $200, for the set = box and glasses but without bottle, it’s a really nice set, $225 is reasonable imo, I can’t remember what I bought mine for but I certainly wouldn’t be tempted to sell mine for that

I’ll definitely buy it. I’m sure it’ll be pricey to get a correct period bottle for the box though lol

1975 era. Don`t think they were ever sold. Given away as gifts.

$125-$150 without bottle.

I agree with Max. $225 for the box with shot glasses is a fair price.

I would buy it for that price.

me too Mike, I agree with this price.

Here are two wooden boxes with bottles (500ml and 750ml) but is me who put them inside.  :)  I knew those boxes was sold without bottles but I bought some few years ago with full bottles.

Thanks Mike and Max for your comments. Yes, I remember that Darvin had a Fantastic collection and of course this booklet. He sent me a lot of pics of his great collection and offered me some flask in 2008 in Lynchburg.
